Your Visit
What to Expect During Your Visit
We understand that visiting a neurologist can feel daunting. Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable, informative, and efficient as possible. Here is what you can expect from your first appointment through ongoing care.
At Blacksburg Neurology, we do not rush appointments. Dr. Huntsman takes the time to listen carefully, conduct a thorough examination, and explain his findings in plain language. You will never leave our office without understanding what was found and what the plan is.
Schedule Your Appointment
Call our office at 540-821-6436 or use our online contact form to request an appointment. Our patient coordinator will confirm your appointment, verify your insurance, and send you any necessary intake paperwork.
Complete Intake Forms
Prior to your visit, you will receive intake forms to complete. These include your medical history, current medications, symptom descriptions, and insurance information. Completing these in advance allows Dr. Huntsman to review your history before your appointment.
Gather Your Records
Bring any relevant prior medical records, imaging reports (MRI, CT scans), laboratory results, and records from other treating physicians. If you have had prior neurological evaluations, those records are especially valuable.
Your Consultation
Initial consultations with Dr. Huntsman typically last 45–60 minutes. He will review your history, conduct a thorough neurological examination, and discuss his findings and recommendations with you in detail. You will leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis and next steps.
Follow-Up & Ongoing Care
Depending on your condition, follow-up appointments may be scheduled at regular intervals. Dr. Huntsman provides continuity of care — you will see the same physician at every visit, ensuring consistent, informed management of your neurological health.
